Oak with fine top. Carving, and paneled and pegged construction are typically in Medieval tradition.

Oak with fine lid. Note tulip and bud carving, and initials of original owner. Bible box of approximately the same period shows scratch-and-gouge Friesian type geometric carving on front and lid.

Connecticut type blanket chest, New England, 1680 - 1700

Oak with fine top and split bosses and spindles of ebonized maple. Carving in tulip and sunflower pattern still shows traces of original color.
